Bush in Prime Time

GratisNet: "It will be interesting to see what happens when the congress enacts neither his energy policy or his Social Security 'reform.' Five will get you ten that the arrogant bastard loses it much like he lost it in an Austin restaurant upon seeing Al Hunt having dinner with his young daughter during the 1992 campaign of Poppy. Hunt had written some uncomplimentary things about Poppy and C-plus Augustus stormed over to Hunt's table and proceded to dress him down using language that would embarrass a drunken sailor. It isn't going to be pretty but then the American people will finally know just what a poor excuse for a man George W. Bush truly is."

GOP & ethics

GratisNet: "Denny Hastert has given notice that he (and the GOP) are willing to repeal the ethics committee rules enacted to protect Tom DeLay (R-Thief). While this is good news if true, democrats need review this change of heart closely for if anyone in Washington has been shown to be brazen, bold faced liars it's the GOP and Hastert. The GOP needs to have their collective feet held to the fire on this matter. They need to be convinced that it is in their best interests to have a truly fair and bipartisan watchdog on ethical lapses in the House.

The fact that all of the GOP members of the committee have been beneficiaries of DeLay's questionable largess lends doubt as to their fair deliberations regarding DeLay. Allowing them to judge DeLay would be the same as allowing people, who had been given substantial amounts of cash and gifts by an individual, to serve on a jury in a trial involving that person. While one would hope they would be impartial, given the knowledge of human nature, one also knows that such a hope is illogical, which is why people who have a personal or business relationships with an individual at trial are never allowed to sit in judgement of that individual. The temptation to deliberate based on self interests & emotion rather than the facts would be too great."

Barry Goldwater nailed it.

GratisNet: "One of the reasons I voted for Senator Goldwater back in 1964.

However, on religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both. I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of 'conservatism.' -- Sen. Barry Goldwater

That pretty much says it all regarding the born again charlatans and their, so far successful, attempt to hijack the Republican Party. I wonder how Catholics will react to Dobson's boy, Focus on the Family board member, R. Albert Mohler Jr. when he said, 'I believe that the Roman church is a false church and it teaches a false gospel,' Mohler said at the time. 'And indeed, I believe that the pope himself holds a false and unbiblical office.' These people no more believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ than did Adolph Hitler, although as he did, they constantly invoke his name in their sanctimonius rantings.

It is past time for America to wake up and recognize these people for what they are, lowlifes of the first order."

Pope Benedict XVI

GratisNet: "The new Pope is 78 years old. Can anyone seriously think that he was not an interim choice until the factions within the hierarchy of Cardinals sort themselves out? The 'discoveries' of his NAZI childhood past are inconsequential and can be ignored. Suffice it to say that Benedict XVI will not be with us over long. In any case we pray he has the wisdom to recognize the path the church must take in the 21st century and the courage to lead it on that path"

Right wing nutjobs threaten judges.

GratisNet: "Remember when the Schlaflys, Vieiras, DeLays, et al were crying 'Rule of law, rule of law?' Now it seems that they wish to threaten judges with 'impeachment and more' if they issue rulings not to their liking. Can anyone remember other countries that had such problems? If you answered Afghanistan, Iran, etc. give yourself a prize.

I seem to recall that threatening a federal judge is a felony so when will we see some indictments and orange jumpsuit clad wingnuts being frog marched into court? Or is that only for the likes of Susan MacDougal et al, supporters of democracy? It is past time for those republicans who are moral and ethical to speak up for their party and most importantly, America.

One grows weary of these right wing thugs who are working hard to replace the Constitution with the Bible. They are irate over Justice Kennedy refusing to allow states to execute 14 year old teenagers and they call themselves Christians. They call themselves compassionate. Other people know them as hypocrites.

Lord I am tired of these sorry bastards, enough so that I'm going off for a week or so for some R & R."

The people tire of Bush.

GratisNet: "So Bush's approval rating is at 45% and heading south. I am shocked!

I heard one comment in the MSM yesterday to the effect that while Bush's approval is in the toilet and heading lower, all bets are off if there is another terrorist attack like 9/11. That got me to thinking about the inconsistencies of the whole 9/11 event timeline and the events of that day. To make a long story short, I have come to disbelieve the official story of 9/11 but the reasons why I have come to this can wait for another day.

Suffice it to say that when Commander Codpiece's approval heads even further into the dumper, expect another 'terrorist' attack. I say here and now, and for the record, 'If Junior's approvals keep declining there will be another terrorist attack, one that will make 9/11 look like a Sunday School picnic.'

I can say this not because I am another Dunninger or soothsayer or fortune teller. I can say this because I know the nature of the gang of criminals and thugs who have gained control of our nation. They will stop at nothing to continue their control over America, partly because of their amoral nature and greed but mostly because they know that there will be a price to pay, a personal price, when they are turned out of power and the harsh light of truth shines upon their dastardly, craven and reprehensible deeds. The time of the gravest danger for our democratic republic is fast approaching and I fear for the America I have known."

Pope John Paul II

GratisNet: "The monumental journey of Pope John Paul II has come to an end and the world mourns the great loss. Humanity does not have so many men of goodwill and moral certitude that it can afford to be without one of the most influential of the genre. He was the Vicar of Christ to catholics but he was also a man of God who tried to bring the great religions of the world into a peaceful, and yes, respectful coexistence.

In short, he was a man of God. He was a man of understanding. He was a man of peace. But most of all, he was a man and he shall be sorely missed."
